Hong Kong Restrict Phthalates Contents in Toys and Children’s Product under 4 and Labeling Requirement

On 14 February 2014, Hong Kong ‘Toys and Children’s Products Safety (Additional Safety Standards or Requirements) Regulation’ was published in the Government Gazette. The regulation requirements identification markings, bilingual warning or cautionary labels with respect to the safe keeping, use, consumption or disposal of toys and children’s products and limits 6 forms of phthalates in accessible plasticized materials in toys or products for children under the age of 4. The new law will take effect on 1 July 2014.

Phthalates requirements of the new law are listed in below Table：
