NEWSupdate:2021-10-14 NO.: DOC211001-01Extension of Deadline For UKCA MarkingThe UK government has recently announced that it will extend the deadline of applying the UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking. The UKCA is a new UK product marking used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers most goods which previously required the CE marking, known as ‘new approach’ goods. LEO-MTS has issued the news of DOC210103-01 before. The UKCA marking came into effect on 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, you will still be able to use the CE marking until 1 January 2023 in most cases. The extension means all goods which previously required CE marketing do not have to show UKCA marking until January 1st, 2023 although it is recommended to make this change before this new deadline which is not expected to be extended further. It should be noted that CE marking in place of UKCA marking is only valid whilst the GB/EU rules remain the same. The guidance states that if the rules do change then the option to CE mark in place of UKCA mark ends with immediate effect. For further details, please refer to the below link: |
