NEWSupdate:2021-01-22 NO.: DOC210103-01Two new hazardous chemicals update to the Candidate ListOn 19 January 2021, ECHA has added two new hazardous chemical substances of very high concern (SVHC) to the Candidate List. The Candidate List of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) now contains 211 substances. 2 Substances added to the Candidate List on 19 January 2021:
Companies must follow their legal obligations and ensure the safe use of these chemicals. According to REACH, any supplier of articles containing a Candidate List substance above a concentration of 0.1 % weight by weight has to give sufficient information to their customers and consumers to allow safe use. If the article containing SVHC above a concentration of 0.1 % weight by weight and the substance is present in those articles in quantities totalling over one tonne per producer or importer per year, they must notify ECHA. From January 2021 onwards, article suppliers also have to notify ECHA’s SCIP database under the Waste Framework Directive if their products contain substances of very high concern above 0.1% weight by weight.
