NEWSupdate:2020-11-12 NO.: DOC201101-01US Maine state added PFOS and its Salts to the PCs list for ReportingIn July 2020, the US state of Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued new Chapter 890 ‘Designation of PFOS and its Salts as Priority Chemicals’ and requires reporting for certain children’s products that contain PFOS or its salts. This new rule became effective on July 28, 2020 and its deadline for reporting is January 24, 2021. If the sale of regulated children’s products does not commence until after the end of January 24, 2021, the obligations to report are within 30 days of the sale of the children’s product. Manufacturers selling certain categories of children's products in Maine containing any of Maine’s priority chemicals, in an amount greater than de minimis, and who have not already reported to the Department, must do so within 30 days of the product’s availability in Maine.
