ASTM F2923-20 Standard Specification for Consumer Product Safety for Children’s Jewelry was Published

On March 2020, ASTM published the new edition of standard specification for consumer product safety for children’s jewelry ASTM F2923-20.

The main changes to the previous edition ASTM F2923-14 are as follows:
1.The screening level of total cadmium content was adjusted from 300 ppm to 75 ppm. The accessible metal or plastic components of children’s jewelry that exceed the 75 ppm total cadmium screening level and which are small parts shall be tested for soluble cadmium.
2.Add section 11 specification for phthalates in plasticized accessible components of children’s jewelry. Accessible plasticized materials are obliged to comply with no more than 0.1% for each of the the eight phthalates (BBP, DBP, DCHP, DEHP, DHEXP (DnHP), DIBP, DINP and DPENP) using CPSC-CHC1001-09.4.
3.Update the edition of chemical test methods.
