The Final Phthalates Rule (16 CFR 1307) was Published by CPSC

The final rule (16 CFR 1307) of expanding phthalate restriction to children’s toys and childcare articles sold in the United States was published on Federal Register by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on October 27, 2017. The key point of 16 CFR 1307 is that there will be total eight permanently prohibited phthalates with their concentration limits (1000ppm). The rule will go into force from April 25, 2018

Comparing with the CPSIA limited Phthalates currently in effect, 16 CFR 1307
1.Cancels the interim prohibition of both DIDP and DNOP;
2.Expands the applicable scope of DINP;
3.Puts DIBP, DCHP, DHEXP and DPENP on the permanent restricted list.
