Directive 2017/774/EU Restricts Phenol in Certain Toys
On May 4, 2017, EU published Directive (EU) 2017/774 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, amending specific limit values for chemicals used in toys, Appendix C to Annex II to Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC, as regards phenol.
The Directive only applied for toys intended for use by children under 36 months or in other toys intended to be placed in the mouth. Directive (EU) 2017/774 will become effective on November 4, 2018.
In Appendix C to Annex II to Directive 2009/48/EC, the following entry shall be added:
